Concertino for Two Pianos Dmitri Shostakovich
The first performance of this work was given in the Moscow Conservatoire on 20 January 1955 by the composer's son Maxim (for whom it was written), with Alla Maloletkova. The work begins with a slow dramatic introduction, which leads into a lively Allegretto that forms the main section of the |
work. There are unmistakeable signs of the composer's humour in this light-hearted music; the opening material sometimes reappears, adding even greater impact to the generally sparkling mood of the work.
