Popular Song (from Façade Suite)

William Walton

The "Façade" Suite was William Walton's first important work.  It was scored for reciter and sextet and was set to poems by Edith Sitwell.

This is the beginning of the poem that "Popular Song" was written to accompany and Walton Cleverly captures the mood of the poem in this charming piece.
